Introduction
Ah, Mondays. Is it any coincidence that the French phrase “Mon-Dieu!” (translates to “My God” in English) sounds so much like Monday? The start of the work week sometimes can really have us calling to a higher power or finding something, anything, to help us get through, or even begin our day. For many, it could just be coffee with an extra shot of espresso. At The Difference, we like sharing inspirational quotes, gems of wisdom, or suggestions to help people get over this first hurdle of the week in this article we call “Motivation Monday”.

If you’re about to start writing, you know that as soon as you have the first sentence down, more ideas will follow. Later, will come the work of drafts and editing. But to get past writer’s block, all that is really needed is to start. That’s exactly where I was a few minutes ago and what do you know? We’re already in the second paragraph!
Sometimes, Mondays are like before you jump into a crisp pool to swim some laps. You know, we know, everyone knows that the exercise will be refreshing, but that does not take away the hesitation and abrupt wake-up call when the cool water hits your body. Monday’s can be like taking the first step on a morning jog in late Fall, Winter, or early Spring. Take some time to stretch and get your mind and body ready for the undertaking. Pretty soon, we’ll get our rhythm and breathing synced, and find ourselves going through the motion naturally.
Then there are those Mondays. You know the ones. We are in bed, and it is cozy. Then the alarm starts to rouse us for the day. We know we shouldn’t hit the snooze button and turtle under the sheets, but to begin the whole process of getting ready for the day can seem so daunting. Especially on Monday. We can feel like we are at the base of Mt. Monday, the tallest peak on Earth. But when broken down, the answer to the question “how do you climb a mountain?” is profoundly simple: One step at a time.
